Due to the easiness of adjusting their properties organomodified siloxanes (OMS) are used in many industrial applications.

They basically consist of a silicone backbone to which organic moieties are attached via chemical bonds. These moieties can be either hydrophobic or hydrophilic but also reactive or inert. Thus, OMS combine the unique surface active properties of silicones but without the undesired properties of silicone oils.

For defoamers a perfect balance between compatibility and defoaming performance can be achieved by a combination of hydrophilic and hydrophobic polyethers. Due to the high degree of flexibility ín synthesis the OMS technoclgy allows to tailor made defoamers to the requirements of different adhesive formulations.
